This weekend I was fortunate enough to experience the inaugural 400 Fest at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. It was a jam-packed EDM (Electronic Dance Music) festival full of 6 major artists and I was stoked to be a part of it! I have been a fan of dance music for several years and I have not heard of many opportunities to see artists in Indiana. Thankfully, EDM festivals are on the rise and it’s great that we have one of our own right here in Indianapolis.
The concert was put on as part of the Brickyard 400 following the success of the Snake Pit within the past few years with artists like Skrillex, Hardwell, Zedd, Marshmello, and Diplo selling out to crowds of estimated 10-30 thousand of party goers.
This weekend was a 2-day event with Friday night including Cheat Codes, Mac Miller, and Major Lazer. DNCE, Pretty Lights, and The Chainsmokers lit up Saturday night with performances. I truly had a great time and this was my first music festival ever! Everyone was dressed in fun outfits from Americana, bohemian chic, to glittery unicorns and mermaids.
I was most excited to see Major Lazer as I have been obsessed with their music and Diplo for many years, they put on a great show with their famous world sound and Caribbean influence. The crowd loved it and they kept everyone pumped up and excited for the night with dancers, free merch, and all the great hits like Cold Water, Light It Up, and Watch Out For This! The lighting and rain shower ending the show about 10 minutes early stopped the party abruptly. The Chainsmokers headlined Saturday and they gave us a wonderful firework and literal fire show. The Chainsmokers have been growing the past few years and have truly outdone themselves. They played their hits Closer, Don’t Let Me Down, and their newest single Honesty among other great mixes.
I’m definitely ready to go again next year and I hope to go to more music festivals next season!
