Welcome back to the IHC Costume Series. I’m super excited that we are back doing another set of costumes. And if you could not tell from the intro today I’ll be doing a Pikachu inspired costume. Pokemon was one of my favorite cartoons when I was younger, I honestly was still watching it in the morning on cartoon network until it got replaced by The Amazing World of Gumball but anywho. If you want to see how I achieve this look check out the video above.

Product List:

  • Black and Nude Lipstick
  • An assortment of brushes
  • Cotton Rounds
  • Applicator Sponge
  • Mehron Barrier Spray

Instructions:

Start off by taking a cotton round and applying skin prep pro all over your face avoiding your eye and mouth region. Allow skin prep pro to dry. Once dry apply your favorite face and eye primer. I’m using CoverFX Mattifying Primer with Anti-Acne Treatment and Too Faces Eyeshadow Insurance. I’m honestly not a huge fan of TF Eyeshadow Insurance I think it’s a little too greasy for my lids and doesn’t keep my eyeshadow from creasing very well. So feel free to use your favorite eyeshadow primer or concealer instead.

Once you’ve applied your primer go ahead and apply your favorite foundation and fill in your eyebrows. When applying foundation make sure you’re covering any blemishes you don’t want peeking through the yellow face paint you’re going to apply later.

Once you’re done with all your beauty makeup take an applicator sponge and apply yellow paradise paint around the perimeter of your face. I’m using the Real Techniques beauty sponge but any sponge works. Apply yellow paint to your forehead, cheekbones, jawline, and nose. You are basically contouring your face with the yellow paint. If you want you can also go down into your neck but that is up to you.

When done with the yellow paint apply a layer of black creme eyeshadow or eyeliner to your lid. For this look, I’ve been alternating between the Maybelline Eye Studio in the Blackest Black or their Kajal eyeliner, they both work well.

Once you have the liner or cream all over you lid go over it with a black eyeshadow using a flat brush. Now with a fluffy brush buff out any hard lines and transition the shadow almost up into your brows. Apply a small amount of black eyeshadow to your lower lash line and smoke it out. Add mascara if you want then move on to your cheeks.

Using the red mehron paradise paint with the basic palette take a brush and draw two small circles on your cheek. You can also use lipstick or a lip pencil for your circles. I’m using an old lipstick I got from Lush.

Now take the small mehron brush that’s included in the palette and apply small white spots to both circles. This will represent a highlight on pikachu’s face. Apply 3 white dots to the outer corners of both eyes as well.

Now lets move into the nose. Take that same small brush and using the black within the paradise palette draw an upside down triangle on your nose.

Okay we’re almost done with Pikachu so let’s finish this up by taking NYX Liquid Suede in black and apply it to your upper lip. Allow the black to dry before closing your mouth or the lipstick will transfer. For your bottom lip apply a nude brown or chapstick and we’re done.

To seal in the look you can apply Mehron’s Barrier spray to help the look last for hours.
