Who doesn’t LOVE a beautiful manicure, but getting your nails done regularly can be pricey and time-consuming. If you don’t mind taking a little at home me time, Sally Hansen has a great two step self-care alternative, Sally Hansen’s Miracle Gel polish. Unlike most gel polishes on the market, this polish does not require a light and dries down completely in 30 minutes or less. The polish comes in 76 amazing colors, including vibrant blues, glitters, mattes and iridescents.
For this, at home manicure, all you need is the Miracle Gel color and the clear Miracle Gel Topcoat. The polish and clear topcoat usually come in at about $7 – $10 each and can be found at Walmart, CVS, Ulta and many other major retailers.
The Sally Hansen Miracle Gel advertises to lasts up to two weeks but I have yet to experience that. I usually get a good 3-4 days before my nails chip or the polish comes off a nail completely, which is actually a lot better than any other polish I’ve used in the past. With regular polish, I usually get a good day of wear. I’ve been told that some colors of the gel polish last longer than others so that is a factor to take into consideration when trying. I mostly have polishes in the red, pink and purple family but recently decided to grab a blue (Digi-Teal) to see if this color lasts a little bit longer.
When I do my manicures I try to always clean up my cuticles and buff my nails a little before applying my polish. I’m not sure if it helps with the longevity but I think my nails look better in general when I do a little cleanup. I then apply two coats of Miracle Gel polish, once dry I then apply one coat of the Miracle Gel Topcoat. When applying the topcoat it’s a good practice to make sure your polish brush is good and wet. When there isn’t enough topcoat on your brush you will pull the color and mess up all your hard work.
Removing the polish is just as easy as applying. I use a cheap acetone nail polish remover and most colors come right off with a single cotton round. For the darker colors you may have to put in a little more work but in most cases, it comes right off without bad staining.
Some of my favorite colors from the line are Mad Women, Purplexed, Red Eye and Electric Pop.
