Hey loves!! Welcome back to IHC! Today’s video is a first impressions and demo of the NEW Fenty Pro Filt’r concealer!! If you haven’t heard, Fenty recently expanded their foundation line, adding 10 new shades, and dropped 50 new concealers to go along with the expanded line! This concealer has quite a few claims to live up to! Keep reading to see how I thought it lived up to the hype!
“Whether you’re hiding bags and blemishes or hangovers and bad decisions, your secret’s safe with Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer. The full coverage cure to living life to the fullest, Pro Filt’r is the closest thing to retouching your skin in reality. This creamy, light-as-air, soft matte concealer easily builds to full coverage, instantly brightening under eyes, concealing blemishes and dark spots, and reducing redness.
Choose from 50 easy-to-shop shades, each created to complement—not match—your Pro Filt’r foundation. Not sure where to start? Try your foundation shade number, then adjust as needed depending on what you want to conceal.”
I would agree that this is a soft matte, medium to full coverage concealer. It definitely wasn’t drying to my under eyes. I didn’t wear it for a full day, but I didn’t notice much creasing. Let me know in the comments if you’d like to see a full day wear test!
One thing I really liked about this concealer was that it didn’t dry down very quickly! When Fenty’s foundation first dropped, a major complaint from most people was that it dried quickly and didn’t give much time to blend before it began setting. I definitely don’t think anyone will have that problem with the concealers! They’re really creamy and user-friendly. Whether you’re a pro or just starting your makeup journey, you’ll find this concealer easy to use. You can take your time and get it just right! I did notice that the concealer soaked up the powder more than other concealers that I have. Depending on the look you’re going for, you may want to use a little less concealer, blend a little more or give it a little more time to dry before powdering.
As far as the shades go, the concealers are supposed to compliment the matching foundation shade. Basically, if you wear foundation shade 370, you’re supposed to be able to get shade 370 in the concealer for highlighting purposes. The concealers aren’t the exact same shade as the foundations; they’re slightly lighter so you’ll be able to have a soft natural highlight under eye (but not get too crazy lol). I think going with the same number is great for a natural, everyday kind of look, but if you like your under-eye to be really bright, you’re going to need to pick a different shade.
Pro tip: If you’re going to get a lighter shade PLEASE be sure to be mindful of the undertones! Fenty has an amazing shade range, featuring many similar shades with varying undertones. Make sure the concealer you get has the undertone you’re looking for! When I was looking for a contour color, I swatched 5 or more concealers before picking one. I ended up choosing 450, but 445 was MUCH more red. Pro tip in a pro tip: If you’re shopping in store and have a shade you love in another concealer, swatch that and see if you can find a similar shade in the Fenty concealers! (I used Born This Way Concealer in shade “Toffee” as a reference point for my contour shade.)
